This is a 6-week facilitated online course which combines:

  • Live webinars
  • Online content and activities
  • Videos
  • A range of online interactive tools
  • Hands-on activities in your own videoconference facility

Each week you’ll work on structured activities, which include reading, watching videos and gaining experience with your own videoconference facility. You’re expected to spend 2-3 hours per week on these activities and are encouraged to share with each other. At the conclusion of the course, you should plan and deliver a mini-lesson via videoconference and critique your delivery. The course facilitator is on-hand throughout the course to set tasks, ask questions to keep the dialogue thought provoking and meaningful, share her own professional experiences, provide feedback and to serve as a sounding board.

The purpose of this course is for you to gain understanding, confidence and skills in teaching via videoconference. The major outcome is for you to gain basic skills to conduct effective videoconference sessions through:

  • Understanding basic videoconference operation.
  • Understanding teaching and learning in a visual environment.
  • Developing interactive strategies for teaching and learning.
  • Applying new skills in a mini-lesson.

The course is also designed to excite you about teaching via videoconference. It will tap into your own creativity so that you can design and deliver engaging videoconferencing sessions.

You’ll receive a certificate of completion for 15 hours of professional development – provided you participate in all activities. (If you need your certificate to be worded in a particular way that’s no problem – just let me know.)

You’ll need a computer and a good internet connection to access the online content and webinars. You’ll need access to your own videoconference facility to complete some of the practical activities.
